The jurisdictional updates are below:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"pierce-county\"><strong>Pierce County<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Inspectors are dispatching from home<\/li><li>14-day review time<\/li><li>Revised their documents for Base Plans, limiting restrictions, on options (reach out to Jeff Rowe with questions)<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"bonney-lake\"><strong>Bonney Lake<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Only 84 SF permits YTD, no MF<\/li><li>New commercial buildings in East Town<\/li><li>Same staffing levels all year; people are fully working and working from home<\/li><li>Universal Base Plans are still being worked out<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"tacoma\"><strong>Tacoma<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>All permits were extended to November 1st<\/li><li>Working from home for staff is efficient; inspectors are also dispatching from home<\/li><li>Timelines on permits: levels of service are being met; the City is working towards 2-week turnarounds<\/li><li>Down to 2-3 review<\/li><li>Understaffed; not hiring for new positions yet<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"lakewood\"><strong>Lakewood<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>6-8 week turnaround<\/li><li>Staffing: plans examiner retired right before COVID; have been understaffed ever since<\/li><li>City has relied on outside sources to keep up with flow<\/li><li>Advocating for MFTE legislation to be expanded<\/li><li>Considering a department re-organization<\/li><li>Combining GIS with the County\u2019s<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"puyallup\"><strong>Puyallup<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>2-week turnaround times<\/li><li>Fully staffed; just hired a new permit tech.<\/li><li>Implementing CityView<\/li><li>Looking at all permitting timelines to determine areas of improvements<\/li><li>Updating inwards and outwards dashboards<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"university-place\"><strong>University Place<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Jan-Aug: 600 building permits and over 2,000 inspections<\/li><li>Rolling out a new permit system via InterGov<\/li><li>Adopting a new form-based code (no density caps in regional base center)<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"gig-harbor\"><strong>Gig Harbor<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Lost a lot of staff; City has been slow to rehire<\/li><li>Seeing long turnarounds in SF<\/li><li>Staff is working from home; considering reorganization for inspections<\/li><li>Code-enforcement has quadrupled<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"edgewood\"><strong>Edgewood<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Running behind on workflow due to COVID; contracting with a third party<\/li><li>Currently seeing 6-8 week turnarounds<\/li><li>Went from 100% paper to 100% paperless during COVID<\/li><\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Earlier this month, the Development Officials\u2019 Forum met over Zoom to discuss local issues, staffing shortages, permit numbers, and efficiencies gained.
