County Staff discussed their front-loaded single family home review endeavor and presented on their permitting system (PALS+). They also&nbsp;shared with jurisdictions the remodel relocation efficiencies gained by strategically laying out permitting staff at the Annex building by providing a tour of the offices after the meeting. Other jurisdictional updates regarding permitting numbers, staffing concerns and more can be found below:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Bonney Lake:<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Many building inspectors set to retire<\/li><li>A lot of Multifamily (MF) units are in the queue<\/li><li>White River School District raised their impact fee to $3700 (Bonney Lake&nbsp;is split with White River School District and Bonney Lake-Sumner School District)<\/li><li>Added another permit tech<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Sumner:<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>A lot of industrial\/commercial development occurring<\/li><li>MF on main street with 108 units; many Certificate of Occupancies&nbsp;coming soon<\/li><li>Many areas around town to increase density<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Gig Harbor:<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>300 homes receiving final plat soon<\/li><li>Commercial projects going in at the North end of town<\/li><li>Struggling with staff retirements and staff leaving to the private sector<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Tacoma:<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Commercial development has been quiet<\/li><li>A lot of incomplete ADU applications are coming in (residents wanting to convert a shed into an ADU, etc.)<\/li><li>Residential is still busy; 100 Single Family (SF) permits applied for at this point in time through the year which matches last year<\/li><li>Trying to hire a plan reviewer and struggling to retain building inspectors<\/li><li>E-Permits are live yet many end up expiring because inspections don&#8217;t occur<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Lakewood<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>August 7th is when the planning commission will review the reorganizing of the city&#8217;s Title 18A code; this item will go to full council in October<\/li><li>Western State Hospital to submit a new hospital plan<\/li><li>Many short plats are being applied for for infill<\/li><li>Moving to PALS+ permitting program<\/li><li>Looking for people building w\/o permits on weekend (in 2 hours, staff usually catches 11+ people) as many people are building illegal adult family homes<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Puyallup<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Commercial activity is up a little<\/li><li>Not so much land is available for easy SF&nbsp;<\/li><li>300 assisted living beds complete (new)<\/li><li>Smaller MF projects for 55+ community are also going up<\/li><li>Same problem as Lakewood with illegal adult family homes<\/li><li>New permit technician is working out well<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Pierce County<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Looking to beef up staffing numbers to respond to the economy<\/li><li>MF is on the rise, like other places<\/li><li>5 schools are under construction; 4 more are coming<\/li><li>Multi-care facilities are also being built<\/li><li>Out-routing inspections has proved to be 10-15% more effective<\/li><\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>On Friday, August 2nd, Pierce County hosted the third quarter Development Officials Forum in which several building officials from around Pierce County were present.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_acf_changed":false,"_et_pb_use_builder":"off","_et_pb_old_content":"","_et_gb_content_width":"","footnotes":""},"categories":[1673,1],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-1185","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-legislation","category-uncategorized"],"acf":[],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/masterbuilderspierce.com\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/1185","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/masterbuilderspierce.com\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/masterbuilderspierce.com\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/masterbuilderspierce.com\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/1"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/masterbuilderspierce.com\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=1185"}],"version-history":[{"count":1,"href":"https:\/\/masterbuilderspierce.com\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/1185\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":1186,"href":"https:\/\/masterbuilderspierce.com\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/1185\/revisions\/1186"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/masterbuilderspierce.com\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=1185"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/masterbuilderspierce.com\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=1185"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/masterbuilderspierce.com\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=1185"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
